Below is a listing of the specific effects, limitations, and bonuses granted at each rank of each non-Class-specific Combat Path in the game. For more general rules regarding combat, see Combat. Archaic Combat

Most definitely the rarest of combat paths, Archaic Combat is one that only a few even know the basics of, let alone mastered.

Basic Expert
  • Use of melee weapons, ranged weapons, and shields categorized as "Archaic" up to maximum size(s)
  • Strike with Archaic melee weapons for a base of 2 damage, compounded per hand
  • Fire Archaic ranged weapons for a base of 2 Points of damage per arrow or bolt
  • Simultaneously use an Archaic shield and a single-handed Archaic melee or Archaic ranged item
  • Base damage increased to 4, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 4 for ranged
  • Use of up to two simultaneous single-handed Archaic melee or Archaic ranged items
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 6, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 6 for ranged
  • Base damage increased to 8, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 8 for ranged

Brutal Combat

Brutal Combat is the most basic of combat paths. At its core, it's a combat path that everyone can adopt if they need to and it employs the untrained use of fists and makeshift weapons. As such, by default, all characters in the game have Brutal Combat (Basic) as a free skill.

Basic Expert
  • Use of fists/claws, melee weapons, ranged weapons, and shields categorized as "Brutal" up to maximum size(s)
  • Strike with fists/claws for a base of 2 damage
  • Strike with Brutal melee weapons for a base of 2 damage, compounded per hand
  • Use Brutal ranged weapons for a base of 2 Points of damage per strike
  • Simultaneously use a Brutal shield and a single-handed Brutal melee or Brutal ranged item
  • Base damage increased to 4 for fists/claws
  • Base damage increased to 4, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 4 for ranged
  • Use of up to two simultaneous single-handed Brutal melee or Brutal ranged items
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 6 for fists/claws
  • Base damage increased to 6, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 6 for ranged
  • Base damage increased to 8 for fists/claws
  • Base damage increased to 8, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 8 for ranged

Enerfighting

Enerfighting is a Combat Path in which characters have exclusively trained to fight with Enerweapons, both melee and ranged. Enerweapons are hightech, energy-based weapons that tend to be costly to purchase and maintain, but are quite potent.

Basic Expert
  • Use of melee weapons, ranged weapons, and shields categorized as "Ener" up to maximum size(s)
  • Strike with Ener melee weapons for a base of 2 damage, compounded per hand
  • Use Ener ranged weapons for a base of 4 Points of damage per strike
  • Simultaneously use an Ener shield and a single-handed Ener melee or Ener ranged item
  • Base damage increased to 4, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 8 for ranged
  • Use of up to two simultaneous single-handed Ener melee or Ener ranged items
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 6, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 12 for ranged
  • Base damage increased to 8, compounded per hand, for melee
  • Base damage increased to 16 for ranged

Firearm Training

Firearm Training is a typical Combat Path that many choose to learn. While this Combat Path tends to be the most expensive due to the constant consumption of ammunition, it is by far one of the deadliest and most potent of the Combat Paths. Many Firearms cause bleeding wounds and use ammunition, which is expended and irretrievable after being used. Unless otherwise specified, shields cannot stop bullets.

Basic Expert
  • Use of ranged weapons categorized as "Firearm" up to maximum size(s)
  • Use Firearm ranged weapons for a base of 6 Points of damage
  • Base damage increased to 8 for ranged
  • Use of up to two simultaneous single-handed Firearm ranged weapons
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 10 for ranged
  • Base damage increased to 12 for ranged

Hunting

A popular combat path is that of hunting. Hunting is a versatile Combat Path that allows the use of crossbows and bows and arrows.

Basic Expert
  • Use of ranged weapons categorized as "Hunting" up to maximum size(s)
  • Use Hunting ranged weapons for a base of 4 Points of damage
  • Base damage increased to 6 for ranged
  • Use of up to two simultaneous single-handed Hunting ranged weapons
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 8 for ranged
  • Base damage increased to 10 for ranged

Knife Fighting

Knives are an easy-to-come by type of weapon, so it is no surprise that there are those who specialize in using them.

Basic Expert
  • Use of melee and ranged weapons categorized as "Knives" up to maximum size(s)
  • Use Knives at melee or ranged for a base of 6 Points of damage
  • Base damage increased to 8 for melee and ranged
  • Use of up to two simultaneous single-handed Knifefighting melee and / or ranged weapons
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 10 for melee and ranged
  • Base damage increased to 12 for melee and ranged

Riot Training

One of the more common Combat Paths, Riot Training is one that allows characters to safely incapacitate their opposition while defending from lethal attack.

Basic Expert
  • Use of melee weapons, ranged weapons, and shields categorized as "Riot" up to maximum size(s)
  • Use Riot at melee or ranged for a base of 2 Points of damage. Damage may be doubled if calling "Subdual."
  • Simultaneously use a Riot shield and a single-handed Riot melee or Riot ranged item
  • Base damage increased to 4 for melee and ranged. Damage may be doubled if calling "Subdual."
  • Use of up to two simultaneous single-handed Riot Training melee and / or ranged weapons
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 6 for melee and ranged. Damage may be doubled if calling "Subdual."
  • Base damage increased to 8 for melee and ranged. Damage may be doubled if calling "Subdual."

Unarmed Combat

Unarmed Combat is another very common Combat Path for characters. Unlike Brutal Combat, this Combat Path focuses on the character's ability to fight without any weapons at all, taking a more refined and technical approach at fighting with his or her own body as the weapon.

Basic Expert
  • Use of fists/claws and weapons classified as "Unarmed" up to maximum size(s) for a base of 4 Points of damage.
  • Use both fists/claws simultaneously.
  • Base damage increased to 6 for fists/claws and Unarmed weapons.
Master Super
  • Base damage increased to 8 for fists/claws and Unarmed weapons.
  • Base damage increased to 10 for fists/claws and Unarmed weapons.
